Reis highlighted the excellent performance of the European Union (EU) representation in Angola in creating the premises for the event to bring together private sector stakeholders from both sides, with the purpose of exploiting benefits, which can add to the promotion of European investment in the country, at a time when the country presents better economic opportunities, embodied in the improvement of the business environment.
The Secretary of State is certain that, in addition to the sectors described, there is a range of opportunities in Angola, in the various domains and value chains, but he believes that the Executive’s priority is to attract solid projects for agrarian development, distribution of drinking water and electricity to the populations, as well as easier access to technologies, as they are essential to stimulate other components of sustainable development.
Milton Reis recalled that the Executive Macroeconomic Programming is based on the oil price, the exchange rate and inflation, and this should ensure the consistency and convergence of the Treasury’s Financial Programming and the Monetary Programming, based on the projections of the Gross Domestic Product ( GDP).
The European Union ambassador to Angola, Jeannette Seppen, assured the press, at the end of a meeting with the chairman of the Board of Directors of the Investment and Export Promotion Agency (AIPEX), António Henriques da Silva, that European Union businessmen look forward to the event.
CPLP ministers plan meeting
The assessment of the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and the definition of the Economic Cooperation Agenda will be the main topics for the first Joint Meeting of Ministers of Industry, Commerce and Finance of the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP) , scheduled for Monday, 21, in hybrid format.
The Secretary of State for Planning, Milton Reis, informed that the event takes place within the resolution on the creation of the New General Objective of the CPLP – Economic and Business Cooperation, derived from the XIII Conference of Heads of State and Government of the organization, held in Luanda last year, in which Angola assumed the rotating presidency.
Milton Reis said that economic and business cooperation must be carried out by “clusters” and sectors of development and common interest, such as research and development (knowledge), new technologies, agriculture and rural development, infrastructure, sea and mineral resources. , energy and tourism.
“Economic and Business Cooperation enshrines the CPLP’s new strategic vision and aims to mobilize resources of a diverse nature, to support the economies of member states, through increased trade, investment and partnerships, in order to ensure greater interaction and inclusion. of economic agents in the community space”, he said.
