Africa-Press – Angola. The outgoing ambassador of Angola to Nigeria, Eustáquio Quibato, and the Nigerian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, reviewed the diplomatic and trade relations between the two countries, which date back to 1975.

At the meeting, the two entities addressed the need to encourage companies from both countries to operate in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) markets.

The information is expressed in a note from the Angolan Embassy in that country, this Tuesday, adding that aspects of political stability in West, Central and Southern Africa were also discussed at the meeting.

The document mentions that Eustáquio Quibato and Geoffrey Onyeama also spoke about strategic partnerships, sports exchange, technological and infrastructure development.

On the occasion, Ambassador Eustáquio Quibato considered the political and diplomatic relations between the two countries excellent, having underlined the fact that the two States share bilateral and multilateral challenges in regional and international organizations.

Minister Geoffrey Onyeama wished Ambassador Eustáquio Quibato, who left office in Nigeria, success in his new mission.

Eustáquio Quibato will assume the same functions at the Angolan embassy in the Republic of Guinea.

Political and diplomatic relations between Angola and Nigeria date back to 1975. The two countries are members of the African Union Peace and Security Council (AU-CPS), the Gulf of Guinea Commission (CGG) and the Organization of Exporting Countries Petroleum (OPEC).

The two countries maintain excellent bilateral cooperation relations, especially in the Political-Diplomatic, Defense and Security, Oil, Education, Culture and Transport domains.
