Africa-Press – Angola. Petro de Luanda’s senior men’s basketball team is formatted to win titles, said the assistant coach, Raúl Duarte.
Speaking to the press this Friday, after the final of the Angola Cup, with a victory over Interclube by a 100th plate (102-84), he admitted to having faced a strong opponent who tested the team’s capacity for suffering, but maintained the winning mystique speech .
To justify his thinking, Raúl Duarte exemplified with the fact that Petro was defeated in the first two quarters and only later was he successful in defense and finishing.
“Today we saw a very hardworking Petro, even though he was losing, he believed and fought exhaustively until the end”, he reiterated.
In turn, Carlos Diniz, coach of Interclube, lamented the weak productivity of his squad in the final part in which he was unable to stop the opponent.
He referred that the signings made are not yet prepared to help the team at this moment and that the club was aware of that, adding that the focus now is the National Championship.
“We worked for a victory, but ended up making a mistake in the end. We still have some work to do in the group so what remains now is to fight for a place in the national final”, he stressed.
With this triumph, Petro raises the number of titles in the competition to 14, while Interclube remains fasting.WR/MC
