Africa-Press – Angola. The National Football Team plays this Monday at the 11 de Novembro stadium, in Luanda, against the Ghana counterpart, a decisive card to stay in the fight to qualify for the final phase of the African Cup of Nations (CAN’2024 ), in Côte d’Ivoire.
The challenge scheduled for 17:00 is scored for the fourth round of Group E.
In the third round played last Thursday, in Kumassi, stronghold of the Ghanaians, the Palancas Negras (official designation of the Angolan team) lost by 0-1, with a goal conceded in the last seconds of the six minutes granted by the referee who traveled from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
With this defeat, the national team will try, in front of its public, to fight to guarantee the three points, which confer the maintenance of the outlined objectives.
However, the national coach, the Portuguese Pedro Gonçalves, in a press conference for the launch of this confrontation, stated that he intends to be more effective in achieving goals close to the opposite goal, in order to take an important leap in this campaign.
The two sets are separated by three points (7/4), so Angola has the obligation to beat its opponent to continue dreaming about qualifying for the final phase.
The Central African Republic (CAR) is also in the fight for this objective, after the triumph over Madagascar, by 3-0, in the latter’s ground, therefore, the Angolans are forced to overcome Ghana to continue in the fight.
At the end of the tournament, it should be noted that two teams from each group qualify for the CAN, scheduled for next year in Côte d’Ivoire.
In the classification, Ghana leads group E with seven points, three more than RCA and Angola, in the immediate places, while Madagascar is the last with one.
