Africa-Press – Angola. 1,899 passports and 1,137 identity cards were renewed and issued for Angolan citizens residing in South Africa, in an effort by the Executive, said Tuesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Four hundred and 75 birth registration processes were drawn up and also issued by an Angolan Multisectoral Commission, made up of technicians from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Justice, Human Rights and the Interior, according to a press release sent.
The documents, treated free of charge, began to be delivered last week, following the deployment of technicians from the Institute of Angolan Communities Abroad and Consular Services (ICAESC), the Migration and Foreigners Services (SME) and the Intelligence Services External (SIE) by the Eastern Cape (Port Elizabeth), Western Cape (Cape Town), Northern Cape (Vedrendal), Lethlebile, Mafikeng and Gauteng regions which include the cities of Pretoria and Johannesburg.
On the ground, the multisectoral commission was coordinated by ambassador Maria do Rosário Neto, general director of the Institute of Angolan Communities Abroad and Consular Services (ICAESC) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The documents are being delivered at the Angolan Embassy in Pretoria and at the general consulates in Johannesburg and Cape Town.
