Africa-Press – Angola. Public managers in Lunda-Norte continue to resist the Executive’s challenge to fight corruption, with municipal administrations and the Education and Health sectors being the most targeted, the deputy attorney general in charge of the province told .
Mário Gama, who was speaking about the holding, next Thursday and Friday, in Dundo, of the balance sheet meeting of the Attorney General’s Office in the East Judiciary Region, revealed that most cases are registered in municipal administrations, provincial offices of Health and Education, where the managers of the intermediate areas commit many irregularities.
According to the magistrate, the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) and the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) have received many complaints and complaints, including anonymous ones, from public servants who suffer unjustified discounts on their salaries.
The delegation of the General Inspectorate of State Administration (IGAE) confirmed to the PGR that the problem of corruption in the province of Lunda-Norte lies with those responsible for intermediate areas of governance, such as section heads of municipal administrations and provincial government departments.
Mário Gama said that there is a survey already carried out that reveals that there are more than ten corruption and influence peddling cases in Lunda-Norte, in addition to other existing ones.
In terms of planning the investigative procedural action, the PGR will, within days, “get its hands dirty”, said the magistrate, referring to the investigation of “all cases”.
“We are going, first, to inquire, then proceed with investigative action, with the aim of finding sufficient evidence”, said Mário Gama, announcing, soon, an extended meeting between PGR and SIC of Lunda-Norte on corruption processe,balance meeting of the PGR in the provinces of the Eastern Judiciary Region (Lunda-Norte, Lunda-Sul and Moxico), to be guided, next week, by the Attorney General of the Republic, Hélder Pitta Grós, said that they will also be approached by various topics, including the “Public Contract Law as a tool to fight corruption”, “the role of the Public Ministry in paternal affiliation processes” and “orphanological inventory”.
Violence against minors inspires care
The situation of domestic violence, involving minors, in Lunda-Norte, is increasingly worrying, declared the deputy attorney general of the titular Republic in the province.
Speaking to Jornal de Angola, Mário Gama considered that “the situation must inspire a lot of care” on the part of the justice authorities, under penalty of putting the children’s future at risk, in the District Court of Chitato, of 729 cases on the regulation of paternal authority, maintenance, mandatory guardianship, orphanological inventory and establishment of affiliation.
According to Mário Gama, a considerable number of parents in Lunda-Norte, mainly men, avoid fulfilling their duties towards their children. Some of these parents have leadership positions in the State apparatus or are linked to Defense and Security bodies.
The motto of the PGR meeting in the provinces of the Eastern Judiciary Region, he said, essentially aims to convey the concern of minors in Lunda-Norte and seek mechanisms to reverse the situation in terms of awareness.
