Africa-Press – Angola. The members of the Honor Council, the MPLA leader’s consultation body, this Saturday encouraged the President of the party and of the Republic, João Lourenço, to continue with his action in favor of the well-being of the country and Angolans .

In a communiqué of the first meeting of that body, the members encouraged President João Lourenço to continue his action in the political, economic, social, diplomatic and security fields.

According to the document, the members of the Honor Council hope “that Angola will continue to safeguard the stability of its institutions, as well as the improvement of its economic performance”.

They also hope that Angola will continue to safeguard “the effectiveness of its social action and the fight against harmful practices such as corruption, nepotism and impunity”.

At this Saturday’s meeting, members of the MPLA President’s consultation body exhort Angolans to celebrate the Day of Peace and National Reconciliation, the 4th of April, with joy and responsibility.

At the meeting, according to the statement, João Lourenço presented the members of the Honor Council with “substantial information” on the operational and functioning state of the party, as well as on the political, economic and social situation of the country.

On the occasion, the members of the Council of Honor welcomed the information received, formulated their point of view, presenting proposals and considerations “that deserved the due attention of the President of the party”.

“The country lives in a climate of peace that must be preserved and serve as a fundamental and unavoidable assumption for the development of Angola” and “the continuous improvement of the population’s living conditions”, reads in the document.

Held at Complexo Futungo II, in Luanda, the meeting was attended by most of its members and members of the MPLA Political Bureau Secretariat, as guests.

Nationalists praise the holding of the meeting

Speaking to the press at the end of the meeting, nationalist Diogo Ventura said that “important issues” were discussed that will contribute to a better future in Angola.

A member of “Processo 50”, Amadeu Amorim considered, at the time, that the President needed to listen to older and reputable people, having suggested the inclusion of representatives from other provinces to have a more open and correct notion of the situation and on the best way to make the country walk.

The nationalist spoke out against those who say they are committed to peace and national reconciliation but who use social networks to appeal to inertia, without taking national interests into account.

Amadeu Amorim declared that it was necessary to avoid conflicts or wars, such as those that the country has experienced, noting that today’s Africa supports President João Lourenço, to the point of considering him a “champion of peace” on the continent.

He warned of the danger of divisive maneuvers from the West, with attempts to divide the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to take advantage of its riches.

Maria da Conceição Kaposso said that several proposals were presented linked to the need to improve food, water and energy supply, believing in improvements in the supply of these services in the near future.

Maria Kaposso values ​​peace as the greatest achievement of the Angolan people, resulting in the ease of movement of people and goods across the national territory and an increase in the number of jobs.

The queen of the “4th of February, Engrácia Cabenha, highlighted the commitment of the Executive in improving the conditions of Angolans.

The MPLA Council of Honor, of which former President José Eduardo dos Santos was a member, brings together former leaders and historical figures of the party that forms the Government.

Among the historical figures are Lopo do Nascimento, Roberto de Almeida, Luzia Ingês “Inga” and the widow of the first President of the Republic, Maria Eugénia Neto.

Among the more than two dozen personalities that make up the said body are also veterans Julião Mateus Paulo “Dino Matross”, Hermínio Escórcio, Desidério Costa, Santana André Pitra “Petroff”, Brito Sozinho, Dombele Bernardo, Paulo Cassoma, Albina Assis and António dos Santos França “Ndalu.
