Africa-Press – Angola. The vice-president of the MPLA, Luísa Damião, paid tribute this Thursday to the former governor of Cuanza Norte, Henrique André Júnior, who died on March 31, due to illness, in Luanda, at the age of 75.
Luísa Damião, who was accompanied by the general secretary of the MPLA, Paulo Pombolo, conveyed condolences to the bereaved family at the wake, held at the Army Headquarters, in Luanda.
The vice-president of the MPLA highlighted, at the time, the human qualities of the deceased, “who fulfilled with zeal and dedication all the missions entrusted to him in the party and in the Government”.
“He was an intrepid member of our party who, on his own merit, became a member of the Central Committee. He left us a legacy of a hardworking man who knew how to interpret the anxieties and aspirations of Angolans and we thought that the best way to honor his memory is that we continue to work towards the realization of the yearnings and aspirations of the Angolans”, he stressed.
On the other hand, the current governor of Cuanza Norte province, Pedro Makita, who also conveyed feelings of regret to the bereaved family, said that Henrique André Júnior left work done in Cuanza Norte, which he promised to immortalize.
“His physical passing prematurely removed from our society an emblematic, humanist figure, a patriot, a remarkable politician, visionary, skillful, excellent communicator, thoughtful, easy-going and with a strong spirit of solidarity”, he expressed.
