Africa-Press – Angola. The Vice-President of the Republic, Bornito de Sousa, travels this Tuesday to Brussels, Kingdom of Belgium, in order to participate, on the 17th and 18th, in the 6th European Union-African Union Summit, representing the President of the Republic, João Lourenço.
An initiative of the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the 6th European Union-Africa Summit will bring together leaders of the 27 European States and Heads of State and Government of the African Union in the European capital, within the framework of a common agenda for the establishment of a Europe-Africa alliance. Africa capable of providing a favorable environment for the creation of an area of solidarity, security, stability and lasting prosperity.
Angola participates in the 6th European Union-African Summit with a delegation, which includes, in addition to the Vice-President of the Republic, the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Esmeralda Mendonça, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador accredited to the Kingdom of Belgium, in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and head of the Angolan mission to the European Union, Mário Constantino and the Angolan ambassador to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the African Union and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, Francisco Cruz.
Mobilize Investments
The Europe-Africa Summit that wants to modernize the partnership between the two continents. Meanwhile, the European Union promises to mobilize around 150 billion euros to implement an investment plan in Africa.
The President of the European Commission , Ursula von der Leyen, is optimistic that the event will serve to strengthen cooperation between the two continents. “We prepared together the Brussels summit. Our two Unions share the same vision: the vision of a common area of stability and prosperity. This summit must identify concrete ways and means to achieve this”, she said quoted by DW.
