Africa-Press – Angola. A total of 300 peasant families from the provinces of the Eastern Region of the country (Moxico, Lunda Sul and Lunda Norte) will be provided with work tools and seeds, for agricultural promotion, within the framework of a project called “Kulima Kutatuissa Kulha”.

The “Kulima Kutatuissa Kulha” project, which means “Cultivating is strengthening food” in the Cokwe language, is an initiative of Cáritas Portuguesa, a charity organization of the Catholic Church, which started this Tuesday in the municipality of Camanongue, in Moxico. , to promote agricultural production in the region.

According to the project’s coordinator, Rui Capenda, the action, which is in its first phase, aims to enhance and empower the peasant generations and contribute to the diversification of the country’s economy.

In this project, peasant families are benefiting from machetes, hoes, watering cans, limes and tomato, onion, pepper, eggplant, okra, cabbage seeds, among other means.

In the province of Moxico, the program could cover 100 peasant families in the municipalities of Bundas, Camanongue, Cameia, Léua and Moxico (headquarters).

Camanongue is one of the nine municipalities that make up the province of Moxico, of 2,783 square kilometers with various agricultural potential, mainly in the cultivation of cassava, sugar cane, fruits such as bananas, pineapples, citrus fruits (oranges, lemons and tangerine), and vegetables.

Located 52 kilometers north of the city of Luena (capital of Moxico), Camanongue comprises the Camaiangala farm, one of the largest agro-industrial projects in the province, which produces and markets, on a large scale, corn flour, soy and beans in several markets.
