Africa-Press – Angola. The coordinator of the circle of deputies to the National Assembly in the province of Huambo, Armando Capunda, highlighted Tuesday, the role of the media in raising citizenship and the democratic State based on the rule of law.

The parliamentarian, who was speaking to the press at the end of a fact-finding visit to the premises of the Catholic broadcaster and Rádio Mais, said that the media, through content of public interest, also plays an important role in the reunification of society, with a focus on the common good.

“Through radio, in particular, the population finds a faster way to present their concerns and make them reach the rulers or managers, for their resolution in favor of the development of communities”, he stressed.

Armando Capunda valued the institutional partnership between the media and the deputies, which has resulted in the improvement of the living conditions of the population.

As for the concerns of the population in relation to the action of the deputies in solving social problems, he said they were related to the poor condition of the roads, the lack of drinking water and electricity, in addition to the problem of ravines, concerns that the parliamentarians of the circle electoral process in Huambo have taken to the National Assembly in order to be debated.

The parliamentarian hopes for greater socio-economic development in the province of Huambo, in the near future, which involves a good execution of the General State Budget (OGE) with a satisfactory increase in relation to previous years.

On his turn, the director of the Catholic station, in operation for five years in Huambo, Father Carlos Java, praised the visit of the deputies, for boosting the mission of this media organ.

The director of Rádio Mais, with 14 years of broadcasting in this region of the Central Plateau of Angola, Elsa Inaculo Marcelino, considered that the visit of the deputies will help to raise the institutional partnership with the media, with a focus on improving the conditions of population’s life.

It should be remembered that this is the first time that the deputies of the National Assembly in the province of Huambo have verified the operation of these two radio stations.
