Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, sent a message this Tuesday to Bola Ahmed Adekunle Tinubu, congratulating him on his recent election as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
In the message, the President of the Republic is pleased with the fact that it was possible to legitimize the election of the politician Bola Ahmed Adekunle Tinubu.
“The people’s choice was respected by all the living forces of the nation and I am convinced that Your Excellency will guide the destinies of Nigeria, in order to safeguard national unity and the interests of your people in stability, national cohesion, progress and in the well-being of all Nigerians”, he says.
President João Lourenço expressed his total availability to work with Ahmed Adekunle Tinubu, in strengthening the ties of friendship and cooperation existing between the two countries.
Political and diplomatic relations between Angola and Nigeria date back to 1975. The two countries are members of the African Union, the Gulf of Guinea Commission (CGG) and the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).
Both States maintain cooperation relations, especially in the Political-Diplomatic, Defense and Security, Oil, Education, Culture and Transport domains.
Born in the Nigerian capital, Lagos, on March 29, 1952, better known as Bola Tinubu, the President-elect of Nigeria is the current national leader of the Congress of All Progressives (APC), having served as Governor of the from Lagos, for two consecutive terms, between 1999 and 2007.
In June 2022, after winning the internal primary elections, defeating 13 pre-candidates, Tinubu was chosen to be the official candidate of the APC for the Presidency of Nigeria, in the presidential election of 2023, which would win.
