Africa-Press – Angola. The number of Angolans residing in South Korea is between 60 and 70, mostly students and citizens looking to enter the job market, said Wednesday the counselor and chargé d’affaires of the Angolan embassy in that Asian country, Rodrigo de Sousa.
Rodrigo de Sousa gave this information to press on the way out of the closing gala of the baptism ceremony of the new oil tanker “Sonangol Kulumbimbi”.
According to the adviser and chargé d’affaires, from the embassy, these compatriots have received all kinds of support, particularly in terms of documentation for their legalization, and in matters of legal or judicial assistance.
However, the diplomat understands that a visit to the highest level to relaunch the level of cooperation between Angola and Korea would be a propitious moment for the relaunch and improvement of the existing level of partnership between Korean and Angolan companies.
In his view, such an act would attract businessmen and the population interested in that Asian country, which presents itself as the tenth largest economy in the world and the fourth on its continent.
The diplomat also added that cooperation between the two countries has lasted 31 years and the areas in which they cooperate are mainly in the private sector, with emphasis on health, education, technical training, and, in the technological area, without leaving aside partnership that exists with EximBank, in credit lines for Angolan women.
To this end, a joint bilateral cooperation event between the two countries is expected at any time, which will be a particular moment to analyze and assess the level of implementation of cooperation between the two countries.
From an economic point of view, according to the diplomat, South Korea currently offers technologies, taking into account that the world is currently in the digital age and Korea is one of the powers in this area.
The Republic of Korea, whose capital is Seoul, is a country in East Asia with just over 51 million inhabitants, in an area of 100,300 square kilometers, bathed by the Pacific Ocean, making land border only with the North Korea from which it separated through the so-called “Korean War”, which took place between 1950 and 1953.
Brands such as Samsung, Kia, Daewoo and others are of interest worldwide and Angola is not left out, with imports of vehicles and other types of equipment from that country.
