Africa-Press – Angola. The expansion and remodeling of infrastructures at national level is one of the challenges of the Migration and Foreigners Service (SME), said, this Wednesday, in Luanda, the general director of the body, chief migration commissioner, João da Costa Diaz.

Speaking at the opening of the day alluding to the 47th anniversary of the SME, to be celebrated on the 19th of April, João da Costa Dias pointed to the introduction of the technological component and the incessant search for responses to citizens’ requests as other challenges for the institution.

According to him, it is essential to consolidate an increasingly scientific approach to the phenomenon of migration, with a view to attracting investment and achieving the binomial migration and development.

The general director of the SME called for joint work, discipline and observance of the principle of hierarchy and mutual respect to achieve these goals.

“The challenges posed by the management of migratory phenomena require increased capabilities so that the staff of the SME are able to deal with the management of migratory flows within the framework of the economic, political, social and technological transformations that are taking place in the world”, he stressed.

The opening of the day alluding to the 47th anniversary of the SME was marked with a lecture on “The trajectory of the SME”, which was given by the migration commissioner, António Lobo do Nascimento.

The Day takes place under the motto “SME 47 years – committed to modernization to better serve” and involves recreational and social activities, with the central event scheduled for the province of Namibe, on the 19th of this month.
