Africa-Press – Angola. Three primary schools with seven classrooms each were inaugurated this Wednesday, by the governor of Benguela, Luís Nunes, in the municipalities of Baía Farta and Catumbela.

Built under the Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM), one of them is located in Dombe Grande (Baía Farta) and will accommodate 504 students in two shifts.

It had an execution period of eight months and cost the State coffers 121 million, 117 thousand and 717, 57 kwanzas.

The municipality of Catumbela also gained two primary schools of the same type, benefiting an estimated student population of over a thousand children.

Regarding the fact, the municipal director of Education, Silva Huambo, said, in a few words, that the sector benefits because it increases the school network and will stop using catechesis and leafy trees to welcome students.

“With the opening of these schools, there is an opportunity for more children to enter the education system”, he underlined.

On the other hand, the children expressed their satisfaction, claiming that they no longer had to travel long distances to access school.

Following his field trip, the governor traveled to Lobito to check the works in the Tchapanguele market, whose delivery is estimated for the end of the year, according to the deputy director of works, Célio Carlos.

The connection works for water pipes, as well as the asphalting work on Cerveira Pereia avenue, were also subject to inspection by the governor.

On his way back to Benguela, also known as the city of Red Acacias, Luís Nunes stopped by the Praia Morena waterfront, to find out about any problems there.

The province of Benguela has a territorial extension of 39 thousand, 827 square kilometers and an estimated population of two million 831 thousand inhabitants (2014 census).

It comprises ten municipalities namely, Benguela, Lobito, Catumbela, Baia-farta, Bocoio, Balombo, Caimbambo, Cubal Ganda and Chongoroi.
