Africa-Press – Angola. The Deputy Attorney General of the Republic in Cunene province, Américo Cassoma, defended, this Wednesday, the need for staff to improve their knowledge of the legal regime and laws in force in the country.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the II Methodological Seminar of the Legal Office of Minint in Cunene, he highlighted the need to continue training and capacity building of employees, so as to have technical knowledge and mastery of action in the exercise of functions.

“The Minint bodies, as guarantors of public order and tranquillity, must be aligned with the law and justice reform process, adopting the best practices and legal procedures in their performance”, he underlined.

Due to their cross-cutting nature, he added that they should promote awareness campaigns and legal education of staff, aimed at preventing and reducing indecent acts within the corporation and, concomitantly, reducing disciplinary proceedings.

He said that the initiative for continuous training and qualification of the staff should be based on specialized materials, in order to have an active police force that is closer to the citizen.

He called the attention of the troops to discipline, a spirit of mission, abnegation, sacrifices for the love of the country, all of this based on respect for the civil liberties of citizens.

Américo Cassoma stressed that the Angolan State prioritizes respect for human rights, the guarantee of fundamental freedoms of citizens, the culture of peace, dialogue, tolerance, reconciliation and equal opportunities for all.

Under the motto “Bodies of Minint, aligned in the process of reform of law and administrative justice”, it aims at the technical training of legal professionals, for the strengthening and enhancement of police bodies in the context of National Security.

The two-day seminar is addressing topics on compliance in executive bodies, the legal regime of foreigners in the Republic of Angola, preparation of legal technical opinions, trafficking in persons and organs of human beings.

The directors of the provincial and municipal Legal Offices of the Criminal Investigation Services (SIC), Migration and Foreigners (SME), Public Security (SP) and Civil Protection and Firefighters (SPCB) are taking part in the meeting.

The Legal Office is a cross-sectional body, methodologically responsible for drawing up draft legal diplomas, scientific research and preparation of comparative law studies, for the improvement of legislation.
