Entrepreneur donates more than 100 books to Chibia's library

Africa-Press – Angola. Chibia’s municipal library was reinforced with another 126 books, donated by a young local entrepreneur, currently accumulating a collection of more than two thousand works available to readers.

The books donated this Wednesday include poetry, philosophy, universal history, geography, dictionaries in different languages, children’s manuals, among others, accumulated over a period of four years by the young entrepreneur, Célia Caíres.

Speaking after delivery, the entrepreneur said they were used books that belonged to her children, since they were no longer using them and chose Chibia because it was the municipality where she spent her childhood and adolescence.

“I feel happy to be able to help the municipality and users should make the most of the works for more knowledge on certain subjects”, he said.

In turn, the municipal director of Culture, Tourism, Leisure, Youth and Sports of Chibia, José de Almeida Assis thanked the gesture, an initiative that comes to minimize the deficit in the library.

“It is an interesting batch of generic books and I believe it will be a boost for our student class and I believe it will serve, not only for students, but for readers who are interested in this type of bibliographies”, he said.

He declared that the library has a lack of books, especially academic ones to improve the level of interest of the reading public, who are mostly students, which is why they still have little readership.

He appealed to society, in the sense of following the same attitude as the entrepreneur, that they have books stored, without use, to thank the donation.

Readers were asked to join the library, as they would be able to find a space with a rich and generic literature, to enrich the range of knowledge of users.

The municipality of Chibia is 42 kilometers from Lubango and has an estimated population of 250,590 inhabitants.
