Africa-Press – Angola. The National Police in the municipality of Mbanza Kongo, province of Zaire, this Monday detained an Angolan citizen accused of promoting and aiding illegal immigration.

According to the spokesman for the Provincial Delegation of the Interior, Sérgio Afonso, the accused was detained at a shipyard located in the village of Siesie in the company of 10 citizens of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in an irregular migratory situation.

He explained that one of the managers of the shipyard belonging to the company PMC, put himself to sleep when he realized the presence of the police on the spot.

He informed that the aforementioned illegal immigrants from the DRC, five of whom were female, intended to reach the country’s capital, Luanda, by clandestine routes.

They entered the national territory on Saturday through the Luvo land border, 60 kilometers north of the city of Mbanza Kongo.

With the detainees, the National Police seized two mobile phones, 70 dollars, 27,000 kwanzas and 5,200 Congolese francs.
