Africa-Press – Angola. Fourteen thousand and 399 Identity Cards (BI) are to be raised, since 2019 to the present date, at Cunene issuing posts, said Tuesday, in Ondjiva, the head of the Planning, Statistics and Heritage department, David Solomon.

The accumulated documents, at the Ondjiva registration shop and at the BI issuing posts, at municipal level, are due to the fact that users live in areas far from the issuing places.

To facilitate the collection of tickets, the provincial delegation of Justice and Human Rights in Cunene, this month, adopted a new mechanism for distributing the accumulated BI, in municipal and communal administrations.

David Salomão said that this method will shorten distances and make it easier for users to collect documents, as well as reduce flooding at issuing posts.

“All citizens who were born in a certain area and declared their residence, after the ticket has been issued, can proceed with the due survey in these places”, he explained.

He recalled that it is a process that is shortening the distance that many citizens travel to the municipal headquarters, to pick up their ID cards, and many prefer not to appear, which is why the number of these documents needs to be collected.

He made it known that, in the first quarter of this year, nine thousand and 444 tickets, from the first copy, second and renewal, were issued in Cunene, against six thousand and 754 tickets from the same previous period of 2022.

David Salomão underlined that, within the scope of human rights, several activities were carried out with an approach to trafficking in human beings.

The Justice and Human Rights delegation in Cunene is redoubling its services to the population, in order to fulfill its goal, which is to allocate 256 thousand and 730 BI to citizens, by 2027.

Cunene has a registration shop and six BI issuing posts in the six municipalities.
