ANIESA seizes more than 200 kg of spoiled meat in Caála

Africa-Press – Angola. More than 200 kilograms of beef unfit for human consumption were seized this Wednesday in Caála municipality, Huambo province, by the National Authority for Economic Inspection and Food Safety (ANIESA).

The product was being sold in the largest informal market in the municipality, located in the Mangumbuala neighbourhood, on the outskirts of the city of Caála.

The seizure took place during an inspection of the main slaughterhouses for the freshness of circumcision.

The director of ANIESA in the municipality of Caála, Simão Albano Urbano, said that the product was found in poor conservation conditions, making it unfit for human consumption.

Afterwards, he said, two of the four sellers were detained by the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC), while others are in an uncertain location.

He referred that the institution will continue to inspect the main stores selling food, especially fresh, to discourage the sale of products harmful to human health.

ANIESA is an entity dedicated to carrying out inspection activities in the economy, industry, health, environment, transport, tourism, agriculture and fishing sectors.
