Africa-Press – Angola. Four hundred thousand and 43 head of cattle will be vaccinated from April to July this year, in the municipalities of Ombadja and Namacunde, province of Cunene.

The animal vaccination campaign opened this Wednesday in these municipalities aims to prevent cattle from the main endemic diseases such as contagious bovine pleuropneumonia, symptomatic and hematic anthrax.

In the municipality of Ombadja, the launch act of the campaign took place in the municipality of Mucope, with the aim of vaccinating 300,000 animals, whose activity will be ensured by 26 veterinary technicians.

On the occasion, the administrator of Ombadja, Elizeth Mwamelungi, urged breeders to take their animals to the vaccination sleeves in order to avoid diseases.

He said that the involvement of cattle breeders, representatives of non-governmental organizations, traditional authorities and the population in general was fundamental in mobilizing cattle keepers in order to reach the established goal.

In Namacunde, the forecast is to immunize 143,000 animals whose opening campaign took place in Okadweia.

The campaign is being carried out by 18 technicians who will work in different locations, in order to guarantee the vaccination of the cattle.

The administrator of Namacunde Cristiana Nameomunu praised the initiative of the agriculture office, for promoting the routine animal immunization campaign, in order to prevent the emergence of diseases that affect cattle in the region.

Cunene province has an animal herd of one million and 100 thousand head of cattle, of which 78 percent are owned by traditional breeders.
