Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of the Interior, Eugénio César Laborinho, this Wednesday urged the Migration and Foreigners Service (SME) “to do everything to follow in the footsteps of the globalized world, in order to contribute to attracting foreign private investment” .
Speaking at the event commemorating the 47th anniversary of the SME, the minister underlined that the dynamics of globalization, combined with the need for greater openness in the field of foreign investment, imposes new challenges on the forces of order, taking into account the need to guarantee security of citizens and the protection of borders.
To this end, he stressed that this exercise requires a balanced approach, aimed at reconciling immigration and development, versus the need to maintain national security, which requires the existence, in our organization, of staff duly qualified and trained to interpret the phenomena and implement , in a dynamic and contextualized way, public policies in the field of migration.
Laborinho referred that hierarchy and discipline must prevail within the forces, as they appear in the soul of military culture.
For the official, the staff of the SME must be exemplary and ensure the safeguard of the State’s image before national citizens and foreigners who visit, invest, reside or work in Angola.
“The SME agent needs to feel this responsibility on his shoulders. Feeling that everyone, wherever they are, represents the State, respecting and ensuring respect for the Constitution and the law,” expressed the government official.
On the occasion, Governor Archer Mangueira recognized that the province stands out for its tourist and industrial potential, which is why the SME is “preponderant” in the development of these sectors and therefore in the national economy.
He stressed that the sectors that lead to the development of other activities are culture, environment, commerce, construction and transport, areas that will grow with greater openness to tourists and investors.
“The SME has a prominent role here in terms of streamlining the process of granting tourist and business visas, as well as improving the online visa acquisition system, making it easier and, therefore, more attractive to foreigners ”, he added. .
During the act, the minister handed over three vehicles to this body in Namibe province and IT resources.
For two days in Namibe province, the minister will this Thursday visit the Integrated Municipal Center of MININT and deliver vehicles, as well as travel to Bentiaba commune, where he will evaluate the rehabilitation works of the Penitentiary establishment .
The Migration and Foreigners Service is a direct central executive body of the Ministry of the Interior and celebrates yesterday, Wednesday, 19, 47 years since it was institutionalized in 1976.
