Africa-Press – Angola. Three national productions, namely “Mahinga” Mussulando and Njila, produced by Diamond Films and Geração 80, compete in the ninth edition of the Africa Magic Viewer`s Choice Awards (AMVCAs).

According to a press release, the said productions will compete in the categories of “Best Soap Opera”, “Best Comedy Series” and “Best Original Series”.

Angolan productions Mahinga, Mussulando and Njila are also competing for the big prizes for “Best Soap Opera”, Best Comedy Series” and “Best Original Series”.

The edition of the AMVCAs, whose nominees were announced recently by actors Bisola Aiyeola from Nigeria and Adjetey Anang from Ghana, will take place between 18 and 20 May, in Lagos, Nigeria.

“The Nigerian film Anikulapo, with sixteen nominations, and the series Shanty Town, co-produced between South Africa and Nigeria, with eleven nominations, are the great favorites to receive the maximum distinction in this edition”, the note adds.

Of the announced categories, 10 are open to public voting, while the rest will be decided “by the jury panel” of the awards, which will be chaired by Nigerian filmmaker Femi Odugbemi (former director of the Multichoice Talent Factory Academy).

The categories of Angolan productions are part of the 10 open to public voting.

The AMVCA awards, awarded annually by Multichoice, aim to recognize the effects on television and film production on the continent.
