Africa-Press – Angola. A lecture on “Juvenile self-improvement” was given this Saturday to inmates of the Cambionte prison, in Huambo, in an initiative of the JMPLA provincial secretariat.
As part of the “April Young” journey, which takes place under the motto “Angolan youth firm in the preservation of peace and development”, the lecture aimed to educate, motivate and moralize the inmates to better integrate themselves into society, after serving their sentences.
On the occasion, the 1st secretary of the JMPLA in the province of Huambo, José Carlos Tombo, reiterated the commitment of the MPLA youth organization in moralizing and supporting youth and prisoners, in particular, as it is an important segment in the development process socioeconomic status of the country.
In turn, the representative of the National Institute for the Support of Small and Medium Enterprises (INAPEM) in Huambo, Belmira Adriana, advised the inmates to invest in technical-professional courses such as agriculture, hairdressing, cooking and pastry, with a focus on social inclusion, after serving sentences.
He informed that, through INAPEM, in collaboration with the MPLA, Prison Services and other social partners, prisoners, after serving their sentences, have the opportunity to embark on entrepreneurship, in the areas in which they are trained.
The joint director of the Cambiote Penitentiary, prison superintendent Augusto João, praised the JMPLA initiative, as it will help to raise the morale and self-esteem of inmates, of whom 80 percent are young, who for various reasons are deprived of social freedom .
With a capacity of 820 inmates, the Cambiote Penitentiary, opened in 2012, currently houses 1,212 inmates, of which 670 are convicts and 504 are detainees.
Of this total, 38 are women, and six have children under five years of age.
