Africa-Press – Angola. The start of construction works on the new football stadium in the province of Uíge, scheduled for next week, could be conditioned due to the constant rains that fall in the region.
A week after the beginning of the work on cleaning and leveling the space, only 20% of the five hectares were intervened.
According to the person in charge of the company in charge of cleaning the “Uígetir” space, Vicente Pedro, when it rains, they are forced to stop work, taking into account the mud on the ground.
The future sports infrastructure, which will be located two kilometers from the city of Uíge, has a budget estimated at over US$38 million and will have the capacity to accommodate 10,000 spectators.
The sports venue will be built by the company Kora Angola, over a period of three years. It will have two side stands on three floors, coverage of the VIP stand and cabins, four changing rooms for athletes and referees, medical emergency rooms, anti-doping control, press area and bar.
With two teams competing in this edition of the first division national football championship “Girabola”, the province of Uíge only has the 4 de Janeiro stadium, built in the colonial era. NM/JRE
