Africa-Press – Angola. The inauguration of the new building of the Attorney General’s Office (PGR), by the Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, was the political highlight of the week that ends today, Saturday.

The inauguration of the building, with 16 floors and five basements, takes place at a time when the PGR completes the 44th anniversary of its creation.

President João Lourenço, after cutting the ribbon that symbolized the act, unveiled the plaque and, in the company of members of the Executive and the PGR, toured some service areas of the infrastructure located in the urban district of Maianga, municipality of Luanda, in an area of ​​21 thousand square meters.

During the week, the holder of the Executive Power proceeded to nominate and swear in the Attorney General of the Republic, Hélder Fernando Pitta Gróz, reappointed in office for another five-year term, and the Deputy Attorney General of the Republic, Inocência Maria Pinto .

This week, the President oriented the session of the Council of Ministers that considered, among others, the proposal that amends the Organic Law of the Regulatory Entity of Angolan Social Communication (ERCA), the law that amends the Journalist Statute, the resolution that approves the Protocol on Amendments to the Statute of the African Court of Justice and Human Rights, among others.

The session also considered the resolution approving Angola’s accession to the Solemn Declaration to the Single Market for Air Transport in Africa, amendments to the Remuneration Statute for Education Agents and the agreement between the Government of Angola and Poland on visa exemption for holders of diplomatic passports, among others.

In a session led by the President of the Republic, the Economic Commission of the Council of Ministers approved, this week, the plan for improving the business environment 2023-2024, a document that contains the fundamental activities to be carried out, the milestones to be achieved, entities responsible for its execution, deadlines and priority levels.

In the diplomatic chapter, the Angolan Head of State addressed issues related to peace, security and stability in Africa with Mahamadou Issoufou, who was President of Niger from 2011 to 2021, and cooperation between Angola and Austria, with the Austrian Chancellor, Karl Nehammer.

The Vice-President of the Republic, Esperança da Costa, visited social undertakings in the province of Huíla and found out about the degree of execution of works.

The visit to the developments took place on the sidelines of the IX Meeting of Ministers of the Environment of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP), an event that opens and takes place under the motto “Environmental Emergency in the Current Context of Multiple Crises”.

Also noteworthy was the trip by the President of the National Assembly, Carolina Cerqueira, to Morocco, where she signed a cooperation agreement in the parliamentary field.

The agreement signed by the President of the AN, Carolina Cerqueira, and by the President of the Chamber of Representatives of the Kingdom of Morocco, Rachid Talbi Alami, essentially aims at strengthening parliamentary cooperation between the two countries, focusing on the exchange of experience in the most various domains.

In the last seven days, Angola assumed the vice-presidency of the Advisory Council of the African Union against Corruption (AUABC), following the election of the Angolan Pascoal António Joaquim.

The election took place in the 43rd ordinary session of this body, which takes place in the city of Arusha, Tanzania, until the 30th of this month.

Also noteworthy was the return to the Republic of Angola of ten Angolan citizens who were studying in Sudan, due to the ongoing armed conflict in that African country.

The return was safeguarded by the Angolan Government, in order to safeguard the lives of these citizens.
