Africa-Press – Angola. The President of Convergência Ampla de Salvação de Angola – Electoral Coalition (CASA-CE), Manuel Fernandes, admitted that there is an internal reflection on the continuity of the alliance of parties, following the electoral results of August 2022.
In an interview, the leader of the Electoral Coalition, which obtained 47,446 votes (0.76%), not electing any deputy, declared that “the CASA-CE is standing”, but reflects on whether it is interested in remaining, face the upcoming electoral challenges.
Manuel Fernandes stated that, without a Parliamentary Group, it is essential to free the coalition parties so that each one takes care of its functionality, restructuring and improving the dynamism, mobilization and training of cadres.
He considers that the “liberation of parties” would not automatically represent a dissolution, but the way to strengthen them, because “union only makes force if the political entities are strong, well organized and well structured and not a mere combination of acronyms” .
Leading the formation since February 2021, he acknowledged that, in the last general elections (2002), despite what he called “some electoral injustice”, there were internal gaps that contributed to the bad results, from the point of view of the organization of the parties. affiliated.
“The result obliges one to take half the blame for not having been able to overcome the internal irritant that aimed to turn the organization into a political party and strengthen the powers of the leadership”, he argued.
The 51-year-old politician added that, under the leadership of Abel Chivukuvuku and André Mendes de Carvalho, CASA-CE, which already had 8 (2012) and 16 (2017) deputies, was an atypical formation with functional structures of a political party , alienating party sovereignty in favor of the coalition.
However, he informed that the coalition is going through financial deprivation for having lost the financial allocation of the State for not having elected a single deputy and depending only on quotas of militants.
He referred that the framework obliges the militants and leadership of CASA-CE, founded in 2012, to reflect on the future of the coalition, which brings together five political parties, namely, PALMA, PADDA, PPA, PNSA and PDP-ANA.
However, Manuel Fernandes said that there are also funds from the organization that are not released by the Executive that would serve to facilitate the payment of the debt of around 350 million kwanzas, contracted with delegates of lists in the 2022 elections.

However, Manuel Fernandes stated that there is political space for CASA-CE to become a third way with the 2027 elections, incorporating new cadres, because the country needs a credible alternation outside the liberation parties (MPLA, UNITA and FNLA), up to the challenges and expectations of Angolans.
In this path, he expressed the commitment of training to raising the citizen’s national awareness and contributing to stability and social peace.
After valuing the posture of a responsible opposition, he declared that political actors should openly criticize what is wrong, but also point out ways forward.
He stated that social stability must be consistent with the maturing of the citizen’s conscience, with the guarantee of fundamental rights and with the capacity to evaluate the performance of governance.
For this reason, he considered it essential to forge national awareness, to denounce abuses and violations of the law, but also to reinforce the democratic culture within organizations, so that citizens can freely choose who should lead them.
With that, CASA-CE defends a diplomacy focused on the search for financing to make the national economy thriving.
He manifested himself against the “diplomacy of extending hands” to ask for help and in favor of seeking financing to leverage industry, agriculture and contribute to social stability, necessary for effective peace.

The President of CASA-CE exhorted the Executive to develop concrete actions to meet the expectations created with the fight against corruption and impunity, as well as the implementation of actions to reinforce the defense of fundamental rights to avoid the evils of the previous government.
In this way, he considered essential the implementation of public policies that guarantee decent jobs and wages, as one of the strategies for combating corruption and improving the social situation of citizens.
Despite this, he valued the construction of large infrastructures, such as hospitals, suggesting that this be done simultaneously with the training of the staff necessary for its operation.
Even so, he asked for greater transparency in government acts and the provision of timely information to avoid speculation such as that linked to the leasing of aircraft by TAAG, when the flag company has purchased new aircraft.
The leader of CASA-CE considered the scandals that are registered in the justice bodies to be shameful, defending equal treatment of offenders.
However, he spoke out against the public exposure of magistrates, in obedience to the principles of secrecy of justice, presumption of innocence and equal treatment.

The also president of the PALMA party, one of the political formations that make up the political formation, considered it necessary to refound its organization, announcing the holding of the IV Congress for next year (2023), in order to introduce the necessary reforms for its revitalization.
Manuel Fernandes stated that the party is growing and urged the militants to raise their heads and start walking in the hope of strengthening the political organization to overcome the defeat that occurred in the past elections.
