The governor of Malanje, Marcos Nhunga, considers that the municipality of Cangandala currently has the conditions to achieve the desired development in the social and economic domains, as a result of the electricity from the public network, the water system and roads, which has gained in recent days .
According to the leader, with the emergence of these services, the foundations have been laid for leveraging industry and other areas, through the private and state sectors, towards development.
Marcos Nhunga made this statement on the occasion of the inauguration on Thursday (11th) of the Water Treatment Station (ETA) of Capemba de Cima and the electrification system of Cassuco, which will serve the aforementioned locations and the municipal seat of Cangandala.
He specified that the work on installing energy and water networks, as well as roads, will be gradually extended to the province’s 14 municipalities, with a view to creating conditions for private investment and improving the quality of life of citizens.
He appealed to the population in the sense of conserving the assets to equally serve future generations, highlighting the intention of the Executive to minimize the problems that affect the province of Malanje.
The two systems were inaugurated simultaneously by the Minister of Energy and Water, João Baptista Borges, and by Governor Marcos Nhunga, with the water system, with a production capacity of 100 cubic meters/hour, going to benefit 31,000 inhabitants, while the will allow, in a first phase, 500 home connections by the end of this year.
Meanwhile, the traditional authorities of Cangandala were satisfied with the emergence of these services and urged the government to continue working to improve the social conditions of the municipalities with the implementation of similar projects and others.
The mayor of Cagiza, under Manuel Ferraz, highlighted the government’s commitment to the creation of these services, as this is the first time that Cangandala has benefited from electricity from the public network and a drinking water system.
On the other hand, the chief of Capemba, Domingos Fernando, stressed that until then the population consumed water from wells and rivers, resulting in the contagion of diseases from the water forum.
Located 28 kilometers south of the city of Malanje, the municipality of Cangandala comprises the communes of Caribo, Culamagia and Bembo and has a mostly peasant population.
