Belas issues 300 licenses for taxis and boats

Africa-Press – Angola. In the municipality of Belas, in Luanda, 300 licenses have been registered and issued since the opening (April 27) of the licensing and registration campaign for taxis, motorcycle taxis and artisanal fishing vessels.

The municipal director of Transport, Traffic and Mobility, Sérgio Sachikuata, informed this Friday that 250 licenses were for land transport, most of which are motorcycle taxis, and the rest for boats.

Licensing is being carried out in the Campo Multiusos car park in Kilamba Centrality, Monday to Friday, from 8 am to 2 pm.

“On the first day we had a reduced number, but, in the last few days, adherence is greater and we believe that the number of interested parties will increase”, said Sérgio Sachikuata, adding that the Administration continues to work on raising awareness among the population in order to adhere to the campaign.

He advised motorcycle taxi drivers, taxi drivers and associations to license the means as quickly as possible, since the deadline for the end of the campaign is set for the 15th (Monday).

On his turn, Luanda’s municipal director for Agriculture and Fisheries, João Domingos, said that 40 licenses for small-scale fishing vessels and ten extensions had already been issued.

He appealed to fishing associations and fishing cooperatives to take advantage of the opportunity to legalize themselves and move away from constraints in carrying out their activity.

The registration and licensing process in the municipality of Belas is taking place at Foz do Rio Cuanza.

Motorcycle taxi driver Jacinto Jamba, who has been practicing his profession for about five years in the Urban District of Ramiros, without any legal documentation, showed his professional license, recalling moments when he feared the approach of National Police agents, due to lack of documents .

“For me, it’s a great joy to be legalized, now I can ride at will”, said the motorcycle taxi driver, who applauded the existing facilities in the licensing process, registration and acquisition of the professional license.

The owner of an uncharacterized vehicle (gira bairro), in the Cabolombo Urban District, after being legalized, said that he will sensitize other colleagues, in order to join the campaign, as soon as possible.

For the licensing process, interested parties must have a copy of the Booklet and Title of Ownership of the vehicle or vessel, copy of the Identity Card, commercial registration certificate (legal persons), valid mandatory insurance, technical inspection form and model 21.

It should be noted that the technical inspection is being carried out at the licensing sites, through the Municipal Directorate for Transport, Traffic and Mobility and Agriculture, Livestock and Fishing.

The campaign is being carried out based on Presidential Decree no 20/18, of January 29, on the general regime of delimitation and deconcentration of competences, and has a duration of 15 days.
