Africa-Press – Angola. The National Football Championship “Girabola2022-23” is one of the most balanced in recent years, despite still missing a round to the end.
The statement was made by the president of the Petro Atlético de Luanda Club, Tomás Faria, in statements to the press, Sunday, after winning the competition in advance with a 2-0 victory over Interclube, in a match for the 29th round, played at the 22 de June, in Luanda.
The official said that the investment made by the competing teams was visible, fundamentally in younger athletes, resulting in greater balance in the competition and better sporting quality.
In his analysis, Tomás Faria referred to the balance between the first two teams in the classification that there is a round to the end of the race, the leader Petro has 69 points and the second, 1.o de Agosto, with 60 and the possibility of raising to 63 if Interclube wins in the 30th and final round.
In this final round, the “road axis” team is off due to the withdrawal of Cuando Cubango FC.
In relation to the 2022 edition, there was a decrease in the score, since the difference was 14 more points for the “oil sector” (75) against the runner-up, which coincidentally was also 1.o de Agosto (61 pts ).
This season, in 29 games for Girabola, Petro added 23 triumphs, registering fewer draws (3) against (6) in the previous season.
The Catetão class lost in this competition three times, two more in relation to Girabola2021-22.
It is the second win of the title of champion, in a row, after 11 years without winning the event.
In total, Petro is the winningest team in the competition (17), followed by 1.o de Agosto (13).
