Africa-Press – Angola. The price of Brent oil, which serves as a benchmark for Angolan exports, for delivery in April today continued its strong upward trend, having reached US$99.01, 3.79 percent more than at the close of Monday.

This rise, which reflects rising tensions in Ukraine, means oil is at its highest level since 2014.

Black gold is rising on fears in markets that the crisis between Russia and Ukraine could disrupt oil supplies.

Russia is the second largest exporter of oil after Saudi Arabia, but also the largest producer of natural gas.

The crisis worsened after Russian President Vladimir Putin recognized the independence of the self-proclaimed breakaway republics of Donetsk and Luhansk in eastern Ukraine and ordered a military deployment to these territories, which provoked international rejection.
