Africa-Press – Angola. Knowledge about defense and national security contributes to strengthening the culture of defense and the patriotic sentiment of citizens, said this Monday in Mbanza Kongo, Zaire, the deputy director general of the National Defense Institute (IDN) , Hélder Estevão Cafala.

The official was speaking at the opening of the 29th National Defense course, aimed at 85 young people from different defense and security bodies and senior officials of the local State administration with a higher academic degree.

According to the director general of the IDN, you only love what you know and you only defend what you love, having outlined as objectives of this course, the creation of a space for analysis and debate on the great national and international challenges inherent to defense and security.

He explained that this training action is based on four pillars, namely Defence, Security, Citizenship and Patriotism, which will serve to inform, reflect and debate matters in the field of defense and security.

The course comprises 19 conferences articulated in three thematic frameworks, such as conceptual, national and international, with an approach to themes related to national security in Angola, structure of public policies for national defense, civil-military relations: cohabitation between political power and authority military.

National security systems, the strategic potential of the province of Zaire, national defense strategy, political and patriotic education in strengthening defense and security awareness, the use of social networks: social impact on communities, will also be discussed.

Typology of the military service and the Armed Forces, characterization of the state of public security in the province of Zaire, promotion of a culture of defense within the community, the main migratory flows in Angola: characterization and influence on national security, among others, are still among the themes.

For a lecture on these topics, the National Defense Institute invited general and senior officers from the defense and security bodies, senior staff from the local State administration and from the IDN.

The deputy governor of Zaire for the political, social and economic sector, Afonso Nzolameso, who guided the opening act of this action, said that the curo aims to contribute to strengthening security, territorial integrity, legally established power and guaranteeing the fundamental rights and freedoms of citizens, against all types of risk and threat.

He urged the trainees to make the most of the knowledge to be imparted.

The National Defense Institute (IDN) is a State body under the Ministry of Defence, Former Combatants and Veterans of the Fatherland, with the mission of studying, researching, investigating, raising awareness and disseminating matters related to national defense, as well as supporting the Executive in the formation of national strategic thinking.
