Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, said this Tuesday, in Rome, that the visit of the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, to Italy will give a boost to bilateral cooperation, which he considered to be very dynamic .
“With Italy, we intend to deepen this relationship and the visit of the President of the Republic certainly constitutes the highest point of our historical relationship”, pointed out the head of Angolan diplomacy.
Minister Téte António was speaking to the press in the Italian capital, regarding President João Lourenço’s visit to this European country, where he arrived this Tuesday at the invitation of his counterpart Sergio Mattarella, for a two-day state stay.
In the opinion of the Angolan official, the trip is a reiteration of the good relations between the two countries, having underlined that Italy was the first western country to recognize Angola as an independent state.
“Italy has always been on our side. Even in the most difficult moments of our history”, he expressed.
He highlighted an Angola focused on economic reforms, with a focus on diversifying the economy and expanding cooperation with international partners.
Minister Téte António made a positive assessment of bilateral relations between the two countries.
The Angolan government’s commitment to diversifying the economy has been an opportunity to increase Italy’s cooperation with Angola in sectors such as agriculture and fisheries, mineral resources, oil and gas.
The list of sectors also includes trade and industry, energy and water, transport, national defense and homeland veterans, interior, culture, tourism and the environment, according to data from the Angolan authorities
