Africa-Press – Angola. Deputy commanders of the Patriotic Education bodies of the Angolan Air Forces (FAN) are meeting since Thursday, in Cunene, to assess the degree of compliance with the recommendations of the last meeting and the activities carried out during the instruction year 2022/ 2023.
During two days (25th and 26th of this month), participants at the XVI methodological meeting will also reflect on the patriotic education and exaltation days for FAN staff and project the guidelines for the patriotic education work to be carried out in the 2023 instruction year /2024.
In the opening session, the Commander of the National Area Force (FAN), General Virginio António Pinto, said that the good patriotic educator has the matrix of educating, praising and censoring, supported by values such as patriotism, loyalty, solidarity, firmness, courage, respect and camaraderie.
On her turn, the provincial governor of Cunene, Gerdina Didelwa, highlighted the important of the XVI Methodological meeting of the National Air Force Patriotic Education Bodies, in the province of Cunene, more specifically in the city of Ondjiva.
“We feel privileged to host this very important event, involving one of the branches of our armed forces, living up to the historic and heroic past of our province, as it was here where some important battles were recorded that raise our patriotism and national pride “, he referred.
He argued that “the unforgettable battles of resistance against colonial occupation, led by the famous king Mandume-Ya-Ndemufayo and other sovereigns, inspired the resistance shown in Cahama, Chipa, Cuvelai and Ondjiva, against the South African army, which aimed to occupy the province of Cunene and, consequently, reach the rest of the national territory, in the years 1975 to 1981.
Gerdina Didelwa underlined that she is fully aware that the topics scheduled for this meeting will be discussed with the depth they deserve, in order to achieve the defined goals, hoping that its results will continue to inspire current and future generations of Angolan youth, in general, and Cunene, in particular, galvanizing them to participate in the tasks of defending the homeland.
The heads of department for Patriotic Education, deputy commanders, among others, are present at the meeting.
