Africa-Press – Angola. One hundred and eight golfers, including 36 professionals and 72 amateurs, will compete in the 2nd edition of the international golf tournament, taking place from 15 to 17 July next, at the Resort dos Mangais, in Luanda.
Presented this Friday, in a press conference, in Luanda, among the internationals, stand out the presence of Keith Horne, defending champion, and the arrival of the Brazilian Adilson Silva, the 24th place in the World Championship (2011).
Also included are the South Africans James Kingston, who won the European Tour in 2022, called “swiss seniors open”, Kenneth Dube, Douglas Mcguigan and Christopher Williams (English).
Overall, federates hail from South Africa (28), Brazil (1), England (2), Scotland (1), Zimbabwe (1) and host country Angola (2).
The test involves 18 holes per day, which must be covered with 72 shots in the professional class.
However, on the first two days (15th and 16th), the event reserves mixed games, between amateurs and professionals, in which amateurs, in addition to the 72 strokes, have more strokes in more distant holes “handicap”.
In terms of prizes, the competition has a general value equivalent to 35 million Kwanzas, for professionals, with the champion taking a larger slice of over four million.
The international tournament also aims to promote national tourism, allow young golfers from the Morro dos Veados, Golungo Alto and Barra Kwanzas schools to exchange experience with the world’s most renowned golfers through the “clinic”.
