Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the National Assembly, Carolina Cerqueira, received this Tuesday, in audience, the Angolan ambassador in Egypt, with whom she addressed, among others, the holding of the 147th General Assembly of the Interparliamentary Union (UIP), taking place in October of this year, in Luanda.

The Angolan diplomat was the bearer of a communication from the President of the Chamber of Representatives of Egypt to the President of the Angolan Parliament, Carolina Cerqueira, that he would wait for the formal invitation to participate in the great event, which happened.

“We are flattered to be one of the first representatives of the Angolan State to receive the invitation from the hands of the President of the National Assembly, Carolina Cerqueira, to send it to his Egyptian counterpart”, he pointed out.

Ambassador Nelson Cosme considered it an important symbolic act for the reinforcement of the inter-parliamentary corporation and the strengthening of the bonds of friendship between the two parliamentary institutions.

The 147th General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (UIP) will take place in October this year, in the country’s capital, Luanda, under the motto “Parliamentary Action for Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions”.

The event will have the participation of around 1,400 deputies from 172 countries and 150 presidents of parliaments from around the world, with the organizing committee creating conditions for the event to be held successfully.
