Africa-Press – Angola. The deputy to the National Assembly of the MPLA parliamentary group, Maria Carolina Fortes, reaffirmed Thursday, in Uíge province, the commitment to direct contact with the population, to better understand the socio-economic life in the communities.

Maria Carolina Fortes, who was speaking at the opening of the meeting with the population of communities in the municipality of Uíge, said that direct contact encourages the population to continue to engage in the actions of the participatory governance programme.

The official informed that the activity of listening to the population in the communities will take place in the 164 municipalities of the country, an agenda that counts with the engagement of the MPLA parliamentary group.

As a result, he considered verification visits of extreme importance, justifying that deputies’ main mission is advocacy, as well as taking the population’s concerns to the Executive.

Maria Carolina Fortes also asked society to continue to strive for the rescue of moral and civic values, in order to achieve social well-being.

He advised the population to continue to organize themselves into cooperatives and associations, to benefit from Executive support and bank financing.

In her speech, the municipal administrator in Uíge, Maria Cavungo, presented the concerns of the locality, statistics of the local workforce and socioeconomic development.

Traditional authorities, students, teachers, members of the local government and other guests participated in the meeting.
