Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, assured (Monday) that the Angolan Government has sought to overcome the constraints resulting from debts with Portuguese companies.

He said that this is a matter that has deserved attention and that he will seek to fully resolve, as soon as possible, to reassure Portuguese people who are betting on the Angolan market.

In official talks with the delegation led by Prime Minister António Costa, President João Lourenço considered the cooperation with Portugal fruitful, with emphasis on the signing still today of 13 legal instruments that will provide greater support to the exchange between the two countries.

He stated that, shortly, the summit of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP) will take place, to assess the latest developments carried out by the organization.

The announced summit will also serve to plan future actions that will contribute to consolidating the foundations on which relations within the organization are based.

President João Lourenço declared that the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries has undertaken initiatives that deserve to be highlighted and that bring people together, without barriers.

He expressed concern, “in this troubled world”, with the situation in Mozambique, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and the countries of the Sahel.

The Angolan Head of State considered that the solution found by the West for Libya, without consulting African institutions, was reckless, irresponsible and wrong, judging by the instability created.

João Lourenço advised “wisdom and a lot of restraint” in resolving old conflicts such as those on the Korean peninsula, Israel-Palestine, to which new ones such as those over the Taiwan Strait are added.

The President of the Republic defended the immediate end of the war between Ukraine and Russia, in favor of the sovereignty and integrity of the attacked country.

For the Angolan statesman, it is necessary to build a peace based on solid foundations, fair and lasting between the two countries and the whole of Europe and that removes, forever, the specter of war in Europe, the scene of the two great wars that the world do you know.

João Lourenço said that the invasion of Ukraine by Russia is responsible for the biggest humanitarian, food, energy and security crisis the world has ever known.

The Portuguese Prime Minister arrived this morning (Monday) in the Angolan capital for a two-day working visit, aimed at strengthening cooperation between the two countries.
