Africa-Press – Angola. The Prime Minister of Portugal, António Costa, this Monday praised Angola’s performance in the rotating presidency of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP), in the 2021/2023 period.

Angola assumed the rotating presidency of the organization in July 2021 and is expected to pass the baton, next August, to São Tomé and Príncipe.

Speaking at the press conference at the Presidential Palace in Luanda, António Costa underlined the work carried out by the Angolan presidency in the CPLP, fundamentally, during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Flanked by João Lourenço, Angolan Head of State, António Costa stated that the contribution that Angola made to the CPLP “will surely be marked”, by the strengthening of ties between Member States.

The organization aims at political-diplomatic concertation between its members in matters of international relations, namely in strengthening its presence in international forums.

The CPLP also aims to cooperate in areas such as education, health, science, technology, defence, maritime affairs, economy, food security, public administration and justice.

The Prime Minister of Portugal arrived in Angola this Monday for an official visit of 48 hours, at the invitation of the Angolan President, João Lourenço.
