Africa-Press – Angola. Five hundred and one delegates are taking part, from 9 to 11 August, in Luanda, in the 2nd Ordinary Youth Congress of the National Liberation Front of Angola (JFNLA), with a view to electing the secretary general of this youth organisation.
The data were released this Tuesday, in a press conference, by the coordinator of the preparatory commission of the conclave, Levi dos Santos, having referred that the provincial assemblies will take place on the 14th and 18th of July.
Interested militants must formalize their candidacies through the sub-committee on mandates within five days, starting on July 1st, while the electoral campaign will run from July 12th to August 5th.
According to the official, the conditions for carrying out the process have been met.
Taking place under the motto “Revitalize the JFNLA in favor of Angolan youth in the interior and in the diaspora”, the congress aims, among others, to reinforce unity within the institution and will serve as a barometer for the party’s challenges.
The outgoing Secretary General of the JFNLA is Daniel Afonso, elected in 2009.
The FNLA has two deputies to the National Assembly, made up of 220 parliamentarians.
