Africa-Press – Angola. The national junior men’s handball team debuted with a defeat in the 24th World Cup against the Faroe Islands, by 21-34, in a group D game, played this Tuesday.

In the competition, co-organized by Greece and Germany, Angola lost at half-time by 9-18.

The Angolan seven will play in the group stage in the German city of Magdeburg.

With a different defensive posture in the second half, the Angolans, technically led by William de Almeida, scored twelve goals, still not enough to avoid defeat.

In the second round, Angola will face the defending champions Spain, on Thursday, and close the group stage against Japan, on Friday.

In the last participation in 2015, the selection occupied the twenty-first position, among 24 competitors.

This is the fourth participation of Angola in a World Cup of the category, after the editions of Macedonia (2007), Bosnia Herzegovina (2013) and Brazil (2015).

At the service of the National Team are: Virgílio Salvador and Paulo Gonga (goalkeeper)

David Yambe and José Chicola (centers)

Reginaldo Francisco, Sérgio Constantino and Gabriel Sebastião (centres)

Paulo Domingos and Estêvão Gomes (right wingers)

Nelson Pedro and Cristóvão Lisboa (left wingers)

Even today, for the same group D, Spain receives Japan, at 15:15.
