Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of the Interior, Eugénio Laborinho, this Thursday encouraged Angolan citizens to refrain from confronting the defense and security forces, as well as instigating hatred, subject to criminal liability.
Speaking at the central act of the celebrations of the 44th anniversary of the Ministry of the Interior (MININT), which are being marked, he informed that, in recent times, the sector has registered with increasing concern acts of offenses and disrespect to authority.
In his speech, he criticized the vulgarization of the image and good name of public entities and natural persons, via social networks or the media.
The official said, on the other hand, that the Ministry of the Interior has invested in improving planning processes, budgetary, financial and property management, with a view to improving working and social conditions in the sector.
In this segment, he highlighted the “qualitative leap” made by MININT in the framework of strategic planning, which culminated in the preparation of the Sectoral Development Plan for the five-year period 2023-2027.
He explained that the Sectorial Development Plan aims at the functional and technological modernization of MININT, where human capital, the internal control system, financial sustainability and the improvement of working conditions occupy a privileged space.
“We have reliable indicators that allow us to believe in a better tomorrow, despite the economic and financial limitations that the country is going through”, noted the official.
Eugénio Laborinho encouraged the sector’s forces to continue working in a selfless and exemplary manner, in order to meet the expectations of citizens and the aspirations of the Angolan State.
The Ministry of the Interior is the body of the Angolan State whose mission is to propose, formulate, coordinate, execute and evaluate the Executive’s policy in matters of internal order and public security.
It has under its jurisdiction the National Police, the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC), the Migration and Foreigners Service (SME), the Penitentiary Service, the Civil Protection and Fire Service, as well as the Technical and Instrumental Support Services.
This year, the commemorations of the 22nd of June take place under the motto “Firm in building public order and security, committed to the humanization and modernization of services”.
