This 49th Session on Human Rights will be the first of the Council under the presidency of Federico Villegas. At the session in which he was elected as United Nations Commissioner for Human Rights, Ambassador Federico Villegas proposed actions for the management, with the guarantee that the body is a viable platform to increase dialogue and deepen the understanding of the similarities and differences on human rights.
The High Level Segment brings together senior officials from United Nations agencies and funds, representatives of Member States and other interested parties, to discuss the state of play in the fight against racism, discrimination, xenophobia and intolerance, in line with the adoption of the Durban Declaration and Plan of Action.
