Africa-Press – Angola. The duplication of registration by motorcycle taxi operators is conditioning the speed of the delivery process of gasoline subsidy cards in Huambo province.

The information was provided by the deputy governor of Huambo province for Technical and Infrastructure services, Elmano Francisco, on the sidelines of the 2nd ordinary session of the local government, held in the municipal town of Chinjenje municipality, under the chairmanship of governor Lotti Nolika.

On the occasion, he said that many operators, mainly motorcycle taxi drivers, registered in more than two municipalities, a fact that is causing constraints in the timely delivery of subsidy cards.

Elmano Francisco informed that, at the moment, 9 thousand 9 thousand taxi and motorcycle taxi operators are licensed, of the 14 thousand foreseen.

The official explained that, in a first, the province received close to 11 thousand cards, whose delivery has deserved attention from the most varied levels of the local Government.

However, he acknowledged that there are supply difficulties at some fuel pumps, in the 11 municipalities of Huambo province, a situation that should be resolved in the coming days, as negotiations are underway with the target institutions, for the normalization of the process.

The vice-governor appealed to the municipal administrations to help organize the process and, at the same time, raise the awareness of taxi and motorcycle taxi operators, in order to use the cards for the purposes for which they were designed.

Own revenue collection

Among the various subjects of the ordinary meeting, the members of the Government of the province of Huambo analyzed the process of collecting own funds revenue, with a total of 90 million Kwanzas registered, between January and May of the current year, an increase of 50 per percent compared to the same period in 2022.

On the subject, the finance delegate in Huambo province, João Bastos, highlighted municipal administrations, second cycle schools and organic units of public higher education, as the institutions that collect the most revenue.

The person in charge called for the improvement of the technological process around this type of collection, which started in 2018.

Speaking at the session, the governor of Huambo, Lotti Nolika, said that the holding of the meeting in the municipality of Chinjenje, 118 kilometers west of the provincial capital, served to support the Integrated Plan of Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM) projects. and other ongoing programs.

Therefore, the official recommended greater speed in the completion of PIIM projects at the level of Huambo province and Chinjenje municipality, in particular, as there are only a few months left for the completion of the first phase of this plan.

They also debated the current situation of the 200 dwellings in eight of the 11 municipalities that make up the province of Huambo, in addition to the level of implementation of PRODESI.

In two days in this municipality, Governor Lotti Nolika distributed inputs and agricultural means to 10 peasant cooperatives, verified the degree of execution of PIIM projects and witnessed the inauguration of two protocol houses.
