Africa-Press – Angola. The draw of the South African national team against the similar team of Namibia, by 1-1, marked (Wednesday), in Durban (South Africa), the first day of the 22nd edition of the Associated Football Confederation Cup the south of the continent (COSAFA), 2023.
Counting for the first round of Group A, played at the King Goodwill Zwellthini stadium, the goals of the game were scored by the South African Human (48′) and the Namibian Kambindu (43′).
In the other starting game, for the same round and series, Botswana won, on the same field, Eswatini, by 1-0, with a goal by Ditsele (22′).
The competition continues, Thursday, in Group B, with the Seychelles Islands facing the Comoros, at 14:00, and Zambia against Malawi (17:00).
Angola, technically coached by Zeca Amaral, is in South African territory with an under 23 team and will face next Friday (17:00) a similar one from Mozambique, for the C series, which, before (14:00) also counts with the meeting of Mauritius and Lesotho.
The final game is scheduled for July 16th, at 17h00, in the same venue. Before that, the challenge for the decision of the third place is disputed.
Among the participants, four nations, including Angola, are in this edition looking to add another trophy in this competition in the southern region of the African continent, which started in 1997.
The Ranking is commanded by Zambia (holder of the competition) with six titles won, the same as Zimbabwe (absent). South Africa comes next with five, followed by Angola (3) and Namibia (1). The remaining members will try something new in this zone 5 competition.
