Africa-Press – Angola. he coordinator of the monitoring group of the Secretariat of the Political Bureau of the MPLA to the province of Zaire, Norberto dos Santos “Kwata Kanawa”, defended, this Friday, in Mbanza Kongo, the implantation in the region of small industrial units for the transformation of farm products.
Kwata Kanawa was speaking at the closing act of the 3rd ordinary meeting of the MPLA Provincial Committee of Zaire, stressing that the country’s economic development must be based on agriculture.
“As the late Doctor António Agostinho Neto said: “Agriculture is the basis of development and industry is the decisive factor”, he recalled.
The politician referred to the large quantities of citrus fruits produced in Zaire, especially in the municipalities of Tomboco, Nzeto and Nóqui, which, in his opinion, can be well used to feed small factories for their transformation into juices.
He underlined that the country will only develop economically when there is a greater focus on the implementation of small manufacturing industries all over the national territory.
The party leader recalled that all countries, which currently have economic stability, started by investing in large-scale agricultural activity.
Regarding the internal life of the party, the politician defended the need for a permanent interaction between the top and the base, talking more with the militants, emphasizing that it is in this level (base structures) where the vitality of the MPLA resides.
“When a leader of the Provincial Committee of the MPLA goes to the Action Committee of the Party (CAP) he should take the opportunity to clarify all the situations that the population needs”, he stressed, for whom in this interaction one learns from each other.
On his turn, the MPLA’s first provincial secretary of Zaire, Adriano Mendes de Carvalho, appealed to the militants to serve as spokespersons to clarify to the population about the benefits of the gradual withdrawal of the gasoline subsidy by the Angolan Executive.
He recognized that this measure by the Executive has not been well digested by society, resulting in some protests and violent reactions by some citizens.
He expressed concern in relation to some violent crimes that have occurred in recent days in the region, with emphasis on the case of the homicide of a 29-year-old pregnant woman, in the Sagrada Esperança neighborhood, in Mbanza Kongo, which occurred inside the residence where the victim lived.
Adriano Mendes de Carvalho asked for a thorough investigation by the related authorities to clarify this heinous crime, so that its perpetrators are held criminally responsible.
The meeting of the Provincial Committee of Zaire analyzed the internal life of the party and had the participation of 108 delegates, from the six municipalities.
