Africa-Press – Angola. The National Amputee Football Team has already received the prize corresponding to the third place (bronze medal) obtained at the African Championship (CAN), held in December 2021, in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania.
In an act held on the sidelines of the Sayovo Cup, in athletics, whose goal was the Estádio dos Coqueiros, in Luanda, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Ana Paula do Sacramento Neto, symbolically handed over the prize of 781 thousand kwanzas to the athletes Jesus Mateus (goalkeeper) and Patience Félix (defense).
In the African Championship, in which Angola intended to revalidate the title won in 2019, edition held in the province of Benguela (Angola), the national team beat Tanzania, 4-0, in the qualifiers for the third and fourth places.
This is Angola’s third bronze medal in an event of its kind, after the conquests in Liberia’2009 and Ghana’2011.
The winners are goalkeeper Jesus Mateus from the 1 de Junho de Viana team, Sebastião Canjuloca (Misto do Huambo); defenders Celestino Elias (Misto do Huambo), Francisco Amaro (1 June, Viana) and Pa-ciencia Félix (Misto de Viana); midfielders Laurindo Lucamba (Misto do Huambo) and Hilário Kufula (Misto de Benguela ) and forwards José Candieiro (Misto do Huambo), Sabino António Joaquim (3 December from Moxico), Pedro Vicente (Misto de Benguela), João Chiquete and Catarino de Carvalho (evolve in Turkey).
The technical team, led by Augusto Baptista “Cheto”, also included assistants Hélder Gomes and Luís Manuel.
The National Team is the current world champion, achieved in 2018 in Mexico. The next World Championship will be held in October of that year, in Turkey.
