Africa-Press – Angola. The commander of the Central Military Region, Lieutenant General Dinis Segunda Lucama, yesterday appealed to the staff to show fidelity to the homeland, so that young people stop seeing their incorporation into the Angolan Armed Forces as “mere employment”.
The general officer was speaking at the opening of the year of instruction and operational, combative and educational-patriotic preparation in the Central Military Region, marked with the demonstration of an anti-terrorism exercise and the exposure of various means and services of military technique.
According to the lieutenant general, the military must continue to be an example of organization and discipline, like many officers who, from a very early age, were committed to the State and the nation to safeguard independence, peace and national unity. . “Unfortunately, today we look at young people and we soon realize that they only want to join the Armed Forces due to lack of employment or because the insertion in certain educational institutions has become difficult”, he lamented.
Accordingly, he warned society and, especially, young people to face responsibly what it is, in fact, to serve the country, since military exercise requires, above all, fidelity to the people and the State, aiming at the preservation of peace. , national unity and democratic institutions.
He referred that the Angolan Armed Forces, as a moral reserve of society, must do more and better, in terms of examples of fidelity to the country.
The event, attended by general officers, superiors, captains and subordinates, in addition to civilians, took place at the firing range of the 41st Motorized Infantry Brigade of the 4th Division, in Sawilala, Chipipa commune, 24 kilometers north of the city of Huambo.
On the occasion, various techniques were presented, from negotiation with a terrorist group, neutralization, attack, rescue of victims taken hostage and wounded soldiers, capture of criminals and collection of used means, in an action that involves the various specialties of the operative military art. .
The year of instruction, lasting 10 months, aims to organize combative, educational-patriotic preparation, as well as increase the capacity of large military units and subunits, adapting them to the demands and future challenges, in order to repress external aggressions. Among the objectives of the instruction are to help the population in cases of accidents and natural disasters, in addition to teaching the military community about the knowledge of the laws and regulations in force in the Angolan Armed Forces.
The instruction of the effective also aims to prepare the troops in the context of maintaining peace and security, in the face of armed conflicts in the region, in particular, and the world in general, as well as preparing the commands and General Staffs in cooperation with other regions. , large and small units to improve the mechanisms for carrying out joint missions. The Centro Militar Region, whose headquarters are located in Huambo, comprises the provinces of Benguela, Bié and Cuanza-Sul.
