Africa-Press – Angola. The new ambassador of Angola, non-resident in Malawi, Azevedo Xavier Francisco, was accredited, Thursday, by the President of the Republic, Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, and received requests to expand cooperation.
National observers attach particular importance to the increase in diplomatic relations between Angola and Malawi, a landlocked country with an estimated population of 20 million inhabitants, with agriculture as the main support of the economy.
Malawi therefore intends to cooperate with Angola in the sectors of Defense and Security, Transport, Trade, Fisheries, in addition to the purchase of oil derivatives, such as fuel and lubricants. On the sidelines of the accreditation ceremony, Ambassador Azevedo Francisco held informal meetings with senior officials in the aforementioned areas. For tomorrow, the Angolan diplomat has scheduled, in Lilongwe, several working meetings with those responsible for Agriculture, Tourism and Industry.
In the military domain, Malawi is interested in training its military in Angolan academies, to take advantage of the FAA’s experience. In the official act of the Angolan diplomat, which took place at the Kamuzu Palace, in Lilongwe, the country’s capital, the ambassadors of Ghana, Indonesia, Turkey, Israel, Rwanda, Palestine, Oman and Qatar were also accredited.
