Africa-Press – Angola. The municipal administration of Lóvua invested 60 million kwanzas in the construction of a school with six classrooms, in the Mwana Kelendende region, to accommodate 305 students who traveled 12 kilometers on foot to access education.

The school opened by the local administrator, António Mussumari, was built within the scope of the Public Investment Program, and will allow children to stop studying in the open and in precarious classrooms.

On the occasion, the municipal administrator of Lóvua, António Mussumari, said that the project is part of the program to expand the school network in the district, with a view to mitigating the number of children outside the education system due to a shortage of rooms.

He informed that the opened school will benefit from the school lunch program, to avoid absenteeism.

He added that within the framework of the Local Development and Combating Poverty Program, the administration will continue to focus on building schools in rural communities, to prevent rural exodus, as well as supporting the promotion of family farming.

He said that currently, the municipality has 66 classrooms that accommodate 6,135 students, provided by 145 teachers.

Later this year, he continued, the municipality will gain a second cycle school with 12 classrooms and 40 more teachers.
